Nick Foot
"My work is a conversation between the natural world and human history - shaped by hand, inspired by nature, and grounded in tradition."
Nick Foot is a gifted sculptor based in Oxfordshire, whose passion for art has been a lifelong journey. Entirely self-taught, Nick works primarily with water-based clay, meticulously sculpting each piece by hand. His process is deeply collaborative. Once sculpted, the works are glazed by his wife Claire, a talented ceramicist. This partnership brings a rich, multi-layered quality to each creation, marrying artistic vision with craftsmanship.
Drawing profound inspiration from the natural world, Nick’s figurative sculptures echo the organic forms and rhythms found in nature. His works invite a deep connection between the viewer and the environment, capturing the essence of natural beauty in clay. At the heart of his practice is an interplay between tradition and innovation: some pieces draw from neoclassical ideals, resembling relics unearthed from history, while others are finished with striking contemporary glazes that suit modern interiors.
Whether referencing the grandeur of antiquity or pushing the boundaries of form and finish, Nick’s sculptures encourage reflection on the evolving dialogue between the past and the present. Through his hands, clay becomes a medium of timeless expression - elegant, exploratory, and deeply human.
