Louisa Corr
“My greatest ambition is to fill the world’s walls with art; in the hope it will make people happier, inspired and motivated to make the most of this surreal world in which we find ourselves.”
Louisa Corr is a contemporary British artist whose work is deeply influenced by her diverse cultural experiences. Born in 1988 in North West Germany, she later moved to Doha, Qatar, before earning a Bachelor’s degree in the Arts from Leeds University in 2010. Her artistic journey has taken her from the natural landscapes of Vancouver and Banff, Canada, to the vibrant urban environments of North London and Cambridge, UK. These varied settings have profoundly shaped her artistic expression.
Louisa's work spans several genres, including portraiture, still life, and abstract landscapes. She often draws inspiration from her surroundings, incorporating elements from different art movements into each series she undertakes. This fusion of styles speaks to her dedication to continual growth and innovation.
At the heart of her artistic pursuit lies the desire to create personal pieces that resonate deeply with her audience. For Louisa, the canvas is an exhilarating space she wholeheartedly embraces, finding joy in the ongoing journey of learning, self-expression, and refinement.
Louisa Corr was born in 1988 in North West Germany. In her late teenage years, she moved to Doha, Qatar, before gaining a Bachelor’s degree in the Arts from Leeds University in 2010. Her passion for painting began to grow alongside her desire to explore the differences in cultures, people, and ways of living. She spent a year living in a natural environment from Vancouver to Banff, Canada, which further nurtured her creative spirit.
For six years, Louisa resided in North London, gaining confidence and belief in her ideas and creativity every day. These unique experiences of such great diversity in a short period of time have had a profound effect on the artwork she creates.
She first started painting at secondary school with her father as Head of the Art department. She enjoyed the challenge of learning how to paint and knowing that there was no limit to the skills learned and artwork produced.
Louisa often paints with bright colours, reflecting the environment and country in which she is living at the time. Having lived in Germany, Qatar, England, and Canada, her work can be varied. She tends to dip into different art movements with each series and then brings what she has learned to the next paintings. She aims to create paintings that she loves just as much as others should.
The freedom, challenge, and escapism she experiences in painting are exhilarating for her, and she thrives on the fact that art is never finished and that she will always be learning and improving. Louisa feels this freedom and tries to allow it to seep through into other aspects of her life.
