Shveta Maini
I paint the in-between—silences that hum, chaos that heals.
Shveta Maini is an abstract artist whose work bridges emotion, memory, and movement through richly textured, layered compositions. Born and raised across the diverse cities of India, her early life was a kaleidoscope of cultures, languages, and traditions, an ever-shifting backdrop that deeply informs her artistic voice. As the daughter of a naval officer, her connection to the sea and its fluid unpredictability remains a core inspiration in her creative process.
Initially trained in surface textiles, Shveta studied at the London College of Fashion, where she honed a sharp sensitivity to color, pattern, and tactile form. Though art was a constant in her life, it wasn't until 2020 that she made the pivotal decision to pursue it full-time, stepping away from the structured world of design and fully embracing the expressive freedom of abstraction.
Working from her Hertfordshire studio, Shveta creates pieces that capture what she calls "the in-between", spaces of quiet reflection, emotional depth, and transformative chaos. Her process is intuitive and immersive, layering pigment, texture, and spontaneous marks to evoke both personal and universal narratives. From her Lockdown Series to Weathered Traces, her work invites viewers to linger, feel, and interpret. It’s art that doesn’t explain, but resonates, anchored in experience, yet open to each individual’s story.
