Malika Hunt
"My work is a response to the atmosphere of a place, the shifting light and the emotion stirred by land, sea, and sky.”
"Art is a way of translating the quiet power of the natural world - the shifting skies, fleeting light, and textured landscapes that linger in memory. I’m drawn to the emotional undercurrents of a place, and through layered colour and texture, I aim to create work that evokes mood and a sense of connection. My journey has always been one of exploration, guided by early influences, personal curiosity, and a deep need to express what can’t be said in words.”
Malika Hunt is a Buckinghamshire-based visual artist whose work spans atmospheric landscapes, seascapes, and abstract compositions. Her practice is driven by a deep sensitivity to the natural world, particularly the ever-changing interplay of light and colour across sky, sea, and land. Through layered textures and nuanced palettes, Malika evokes both the emotion and atmosphere of place, inviting viewers to connect with a deeper sense of memory and mood.
Creativity has been a guiding force in Malika’s life since childhood. She was actively involved in school and university art societies and found early inspiration and guidance through her relative and mentor, Hilary Halford (Hunt) - a trained artist featured in Who's Who in Art and The Cambridge Blue Book. This early foundation sparked a lifelong exploration of alternative techniques, through which Malika continues to refine her distinctive, expressive style.
Rooted in emotional resonance and visual experimentation, her work is a meditative response to the shifting world around her, one that encourages reflection, stillness, and a renewed connection to the natural landscape.
