LEILA BARTON'S SEARCH FOR COLOUR HAS TAKEN HER ALL OVER THE WORLD ON A VIBRANT JOURNEY OF SELF-DISCOVERY.
Her exuberant palette and bold handling of paint bring life and energy to each work, yet conversely her technical discipline, stylistic restraint and unique grasp of nuance can create a sense of peace and stillness.
Painting out on location is the key element of Leila’s creative process allowing her to get to the base of her subject matter. For Leila working directly from life means that she paints her own interpretation of her experience, which guarantees immediacy and integrity.
Leila studied at Chelsea College of Art and The Slade School of Fine Art, taking a detour to get there. First studying Art History and English at Nottingham University and then working in publishing at the Condé Nast Publications.
At aged 25, she couldn’t imagine a future without painting and was accepted at Chelsea College of Art for the Fine Art Degree. She then went on to take a Masters in Fine Art at the prestigious Slade School of Fine Art.
Her latest collection, characterised by bold impasto of vivid colour and bold, painterly brushwork, represents a great opportunity to invest in the works of our home grown talent.
